Philadelphia Zoo

On September 18th we headed to the Philadelphia Zoo for the day. My parents had been wanting to take Aiden for quite some time and that looked like it was going to be a cooler weekend. We did have beautiful weather, and for the most part Aiden really enjoyed the zoo. His favorite part was the kid zone with ducks, cows, goats, and bunnies. You know, all those animals you can find right around your house and view for free! I'd say the next best part was the giraffes. Other than that, most of the animals were either sleeping or hidden somewhere in their cages and we couldn't even see them. Also, no zoo seems right if they don't have elephants so we might try the Washington Zoo next and see what that's like. I said we should skip that and just go straight to the San Diego Zoo, but I guess that's not really a day trip!

Strasburg Railroad

We took Aiden to Strasburg Railroad this past Sunday. My parents took me there as a child, so it was only right that they come along also. When Aiden saw the trains up close, he got the same look in his eyes that kids get on Christmas morning. We had to wait in line to get tickets, but all he wanted to do was get on the train. It was a beautiful day in the mid 70's with a nice breeze, so we decided to ride in the open air cars. He loved every minute of the train ride and stood with his head out the window for most of the 45 minute trip. He loved it so much that we might venture back in November for the Day out with Thomas.

Mommy the Photographer

We went to the Conrad Weiser Homestead on Monday so I could try to take my own pictures of Aiden. They have some really nice scenery and I thought it would be a nice backdrop for the photos. I was actually pretty proud of how a lot of the pictures turned out, and would like to go try it again.

Smith Playground

After the museum, we tried out Smith Playground and it was AMAZING! It was by far the best playground I have ever seen and I wish it was closer to our house. They had so many pieces of equipment that I have never seen before and a special area designated for the under 5 year olds. I can't wait to go back and be able to spend a little more time there (maybe in some slightly cooler weather).

Please Touch Museum

Brian was busy helping his parents with some work in their new house this past weekend, so my parents and I decided to take Aiden to the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia. There was so much to see and do, and he really seemed to enjoy himself. He had the most fun with the "bricks" at the construction section. He would have spent the entire day getting the bricks out of the bin and putting them down the shoot if I would have let him. He also really enjoyed the water tables and the supermarket. We are definitely going to go again so Brian can see everything in person.

Fort Indiantown Gap

Aiden absolutely loves planes and helicopters. My parents watched him Friday night and decided to take him to Fort Indiantown Gap to see some up close. They said he had a blast, and Brian and I wished we would have seen him. We are definitely going to have make another trip there!
